It's official, I passed and can now offer massage during pregnancy!
I'm thrilled to announce that today I heard that I have passed my Well Mother Pregnancy & Massage Diploma course. Since attending the onsite learning part of the course last September, I have completed more than 60 hours of hands on work with more than a dozen wonderful ladies who all trusted me at a very precious time in their lives. So ladies, thank you.
Not only did I pass well, but I was even more chuffed to find out that my almost 5,000 word written assignment earned me a Distinction. I had decided to investigate the role that massage can play for a father in developing a bond with his baby & I knew I was proud of this when I submitted it, but this was just fabulous news! This is now online as a series of articles about Massage for Fathers-To-Be.
During a typical pregnancy massage appointment you will be encouraged to lie on your side, supported with a range of pillows and cushions to enable to you be as comfortable as possible. After one or two appointments, it’s also possible to arrange a partner massage lesson, when you and your partner (and birth partner if they are different) can come along so they may learn simple, memorable techniques to help easy your day to day discomforts, and which will come in useful when you are in labour itself.
Finally, if you know someone who is pregnant or who has recently given birth, don't forget that you can also treat someone by arranging and purchasing a gift voucher online for Bristol Massage Therapy!
